On September 5, 2026, Honduras’ Official Gazette La Gaceta published Resolution No. 162-2026, granting legal personality and approving the Internal Regulations of this new organization.

Among its main objectives are to promote and strengthen industrial and commercial exchange, support tourism, and encourage stronger business ties between both countries. The Chamber may also establish representatives, chapters, branches, and offices in Honduras, El Salvador, and abroad.

A New Platform for Regional Business

Commenting on the initiative, business specialist Carlos Galindo highlighted the importance of continuing to create mechanisms that bring the private sectors of both countries closer together:

“Initiatives like this are important for strengthening economic integration between Honduras and El Salvador. El Salvador is one of the main destinations for Honduran exports, while intraregional trade continues to benefit from geographic proximity and the complementary nature of both economies. These platforms can help build new business relationships, create investment opportunities, and encourage greater participation by companies from both countries in the regional market.”

The establishment of CICOTURHSAL therefore creates a new institutional platform to foster trade, investment, business cooperation, and economic opportunities between Honduras and El Salvador.
